The Writer's Room

Following on from the very successful introduction to last year's programme where ultimately students had their original work performed on stage at Smock Alley Theatre, The Writer's Room, returns for another year long course.

In this series of 3 terms, students will be introduced to dramatic writing, exploring writing for stage, film and television while creating ideas to be honed in the following course.

Term 2. focuses on developing the student's ideas, progression of monologues and duologues for performance on stage and working with a dramaturg for the whole term to produce a working script.

Term 3. students join an experienced director and a team of actors who will workshop the scripts to their final drafts recreating the atmosphere of a theatre company rehearsal room.  Students will be required to offer feedb ack and engage in  each other's scripts.  On the last night the actors will perform a read-through of your scripts on stage to an invited audience.
