The Gaiety School of Acting summer school kicks off this week with host of high profile tutor’s offering a broad range of exciting new drama and media courses throughout July and August.

The school will be hosting a brand new one day ‘Screenwriting Hothouse’ workshop taking place on Saturday 19th July. This course is taught by award winning screenwriter Michelle Manahan. Her work as a writer/director in film has won many awards and been screened internationally at festivals and on television. As a scriptwriter on RTE’s Fair City, she had over sixty episodes broadcast.

Irish comedian, Sharon Mannion returned to the school this week for ‘Stand Up Comedy’, but places are still available for latecomers. Sharon Mannion is well-recognized as a stand-up, comedy improviser and sketch writer. Sharon has won the Best Stand Up award at the Fr. Ted Festival in 2007, was a finalist in the UK and Ireland’s Funny Women Competition and was a finalist in the Bulmers International Comedy Festival for Best Newcomer.

Other short courses for Adults at The Gaiety School of Acting this summer include ‘The Clear & Confident Voice’ with Russel Smith (Saturday 26th July),  ‘TV Presentation’ with Alan Shortt (Saturday 19th July), ‘Radio Presentation’ with Tinpot productions MD, Daryl Moorhouse (Saturday 16th August) and ‘The Confidence Edge’ with Donal Courtney  (Saturday 16th August).

There is also a range of courses on offer for young people of all ages including Summer Drama CampMusical TheatreMake a Movie and Triple Threat Bootcamp as well as a host of specialized weekend workshops.
