Where Science and Drama Meet

Science Week 2021 – Creating our Future

A scientist and a comedian walk into a lab” isn’t the start of a joke, but the premise behind the “Improv Lab” where a scientist, Dr Shane Bergin, and a comedian, Sharon Mannion, solve problems, answer questions and work as a team to solve scientific conundrums in front of a live audience.

The questions and conundrums to be solved have been designed by young adults from diverse backgrounds, and focus on the role of science to solve the big questions and challenges we face as individuals and as a society.

The “Improv Lab” will be a fun, chaotic and joyful exploration of science and its potential to solve questions both big and small!

Improv Lab Co-Creator workshop will be delivered direct to schools and community groups with participants aged 13-17 years of age at the Riverbank Arts Centre.

Workshops are FULLY BOOKED

Performance of the Improv Lab is on 14th November in the Riverbank

This imaginative, engaging and fun workshop focuses on how science can help us solve problems, large and small, and allows the participants to use their own voice in shaping the conversation. The co-creator workshop will unlock the participants’ inner scientist and philosopher, allowing them to ponder the big and not so big questions. Using a mixture of drama tools and engaging activities the questions raised in the workshop will be brought to the Improv Lab allowing the workshop participants to actively design and influence the live performance.
