Stefanie Preissner graduated from The Gaiety School’s Full-time programme in 2010.  Since then she has been extremely successful, with her play “Solpadeine is my Boyfriend” receiving critical acclaim at the Dublin and Edinburgh Fringe festivals. Stefanie’s back at The Fringe this year for one night only with “It’s My Party Conference (and I’ll cry if I want to)”.  You can catch Stefanie’s show, and attend a post-show discussion at Smock Alley Theatre on the 14th of September.

Can you give us a short synopsis of “It’s My Party Conference (and I’ll cry if I want to)”.

I was making a show for this years festival called “I’m Fianna Fáiling For You” and I was all ready to go but I failed to receive
funding. This show, is a response to that. As an artist, I wasn’t re-elected, I’m now in opposition but I still have to have my annual
conference. The show uses the form of an Ard Fheis to look at failure and success and how you move from one to the other.

You’ve got a special guest joining you for your post-show discussion…care to throw us a cryptic hint?

Unfortunately all I can say is that she’s a she. She’s very well known and she has worked professionally in both Theatre and Politics.

Are you excited to be back at The Fringe – it’s proven pretty successful for you in the past!

Yeah I am. Although I find making theatre makes me very vulnerable, I’m very exposed. So the show will only be on for one night on the 14th of September.

Who do you think this show will appeal to?

Anyone who likes my work. Anyone who has ever failed or feels like they have. Anyone with an interest in how we speak about the arts.  Anyone who is doing nothing better at 7pm on the 14th.
