Short Drama “Phil and Satan

Shoot Dates: October/November (TBC)

Shoot Location: Dublin, Ireland

Synopsis: In the bustling heart of Dublin, college student Phil struggles with the city’s steep cost of living. Desperate for affordable housing, Phil ends up sharing an apartment with an unusual roommate – Satan himself, who appears in the form of a hellishly casual gamer with horns. Despite Satan’s eccentricities and intrusive behaviour, Phil navigates this bizarre living arrangement while trying to maintain a semblance of normalcy, including attempting to date. However, Satan’s clingy and jealous nature disrupts Phil’s romantic pursuits, culminating in a failed exorcism attempt by a stripper-turned-fake-exorcist. In the end, Phil and Satan reach a tenuous truce, allowing Phil to carve out his own space and boundaries within their shared home. Yet, the uneasy peace hints at further comedic chaos as Satan remains determined to forge an unbreakable bond of friendship.

Casting:

Phil:

Lead, Male

20-30

Phil has been living with the devil for quite some time, and it has been distressing him. He has tolerated numerous unreasonable intrusions on his privacy without speaking up because he struggles to stand up for himself. Throughout the story, Satan continues to get on Phil’s nerves, ultimately pushing him to finally stand up to Satan, something he has needed to do all along.

Satan:

Lead, Male

20-30 (can look a little older)

Satan is a big-horned, overconfident slob who aggressively torments Phil, yet he considers them to be the best of friends. Oblivious to the frustration he causes, Satan only realises the impact of his actions after Phil decides to leave, recognising that he may have pushed Phil too far.

Exorcist:

Supporting, Male

18-50

Brought in by Phil as a last-ditch effort to rid himself of Satan, the exorcist turns out to be a stripper who misunderstood the job. This character adds a layer of absurdity and humour, highlighting Phil’s desperation and Satan’s obliviousness. The exorcist’s professionalism in his actual line of work contrasts sharply with the ludicrous situation, providing comic relief and underscoring the theme of misunderstanding and miscommunication in Phil’s interactions with Satan.
