INTERVIEW OF THE MONTH – INDIA MULLEN (CLASS OF 2014)

India Mullen only recently graduated from the Full Time Professional Actor Training course, Class of 2014. She has just been cast as Katie Kiely in the forthcoming TV soap ‘Red Rock’ which is scheduled to air this month. India played the role of Mary in ‘Dirty Laundry’, the 2014 GSA Graduation play, written by Chris Edmund (WAPPA). She appeared as Rachel in season two of ‘Damo and Ivor’ (RTE). India is a co-founder of Gumption Theatre Company and recently played Vivian in the company’s debut production ‘Out of Print’.

1. Did you always want to work in the film/acting business?

Yes – For as long as I can remember, I always had a list of things that I wanted to do when I grew up but acting was always on that list!

2. How did you start off in the business?

Playing the Angel Gabriel in my junior infants nativity play was my first role but my first ‘official’ start was probably coming to The Gaiety School of Acting – The National Theatre School of Ireland

3. Any tips for aspiring actors/film makers?

Word hard and be nice!

4. What did you like most about being at The Gaiety School of Acting?

The people that I met there! I think my favourite part of the two years was meeting so many interesting people who introduced me to lots of weird and wonderful things to think about and discover. Both the students and the tutors were really special.

5. Favourite actor?

Marion Cotillard

6. Favourite writer?

The Playwright, Martin Crimp

7. Favourite film?

Billy Elliot and A Single Man

8. Who has been the most influential person in your life so far?

My parents and siblings. They are the most encouraging, supportive bunch of people ever!

9. Earliest memory?

Eating Kimberley Mikado biscuits that contained half the sand of Brittas Bay beach in them!

10. What would be your idea of the perfect day?

Lovely weather, a good bunch of people, great music and amazing food!
