Family Theatre Project

Project Description

The project intends to explore the potentiality of the Family Theatre at EU level, developing and testing a format able to reach out a relatively unreached audience target, the family, through the combination of the most effective practices and artistic languages available at EU and international level, with a profound and sound participative, educational aspect, where theatre becomes the tool to enhance dialogue, reflection and growth possibilities for children and the family as a whole.

Project Objectives

In detail, the project intends to reach the following specific objectives:

  • To investigate the Family Theatre format in European theatres and professionals.
  • To further investigate and define the main features and the quality standards of the Family Theatre format, to facilitate its recognition and circulation at EU level.
  • To test the Family Theatre format at EU level
  • To create an EU community of theatres and theatre professionals committing themselves to further explore the project themes and practices after the project end

Project Results

The Family Theatre Project consortium will produce a number of results available on all partners’ websites.

Mapping Family Theatre

A report on the current situation, the key questions and artistic and logistical aspects of developing theatre that addresses intergenerational families

Family Theatre Format

The purpose of this document is to create a Family Theatre Format Definition to further investigate and define the main features and quality standards of the Family Theatre Format. This will facilitate its recognition and circulation at EU level. This format has clear guiding principles, quality standards and operational guidelines. To make sure it reflects the needs of the different national contexts, the format has been shared with relevant stakeholders at EU level for their review and assessment.
