The Gaiety School of Acting – The National Theatre School of Ireland in association with IES Abroad are pleased to announce that they are giving three Irish students the chance to study with students from a range of distinguished schools and universities from across the USA in their Irish Theatre Summer School programme.

The Gaiety School of Acting – The National Theatre School of Ireland has long been providing the Irish Theatre School for overseas students and even boasts Hollywood star Olivia Wilde as a former student of the course! IES Abroad has a track record of over 60 years, sending students to locations all around the world for semesters and specific programmes and they are one of the most successful study aboard organisations in the USA.

The Gaiety School of Acting and IES Abroad have been working together for several years on various programmes, but to celebrate their 5th Irish Theatre Summer School together, they are offering three Irish students, over the age of 18, the chance to win full scholarships to this prestigious drama school. The course will be led by Gaiety School of Acting Director Patrick Sutton and will examine key works by Irish playwrights such as Beckett, Friel, Synge and O’Casey over a 4-week period from 24th June – 19th July 2013.

As Olivia Wilde stated ‘It was important for me to maintain a connection with my Irish roots…I have always loved Beckett, Friel and O’Casey and I wanted to spend time learning about these people from people who would understand them.’

Interested candidates should send an application statement to Coordinator Karen Lee at coordinator@gaietyschool.com. Entrance is by audition and successful applicants will be required to prepare an audition piece by an Irish playwright of 2-3 mins duration. Closing date for applications is Friday 17th May
