Purpose and Scope of the Post:
The Gaiety School of Acting – The National Theatre School of Ireland is seeking a professional,
organised and creative MA Coordinator.
The purpose of the MA Coordinator is to ensure the coherent and effective delivery of the joint
MA programme across GSA and UCD, supporting its academic, administrative, and artistic
objectives. The post holder plays a central coordinating role, enabling communication and
collaboration between institutions, staff, students, and external partners whilst ensuring that the
programme operates smoothly and to a high professional standard. The scope of the role spans
programme administration, stakeholder liaison, and production management.
This role is line-managed by the Director of GSA, and reports to Programme Directors within
UCD.
This is a fixed-term contract covering the academic year 26-27.
The post-holder will also be expected to teach some hours on the course. Timetabled teaching
hours are paid at a standard teaching rate.
Duties & Responsibilities include:
Programme Coordination
● Act as a key point of contact for students, staff, visiting artists, and institutional partners.
● Assist with student induction, progression, and programme-related communications.
● Support programme planning, timetabling, and scheduling in collaboration with academic
staff.

● Maintain accurate programme records and documentation.
● Support quality assurance processes and programme reviews as required.
● Ensuring all teaching staff are properly inducted and vetted
● Assisting with the preparation and dissemination of all paperwork for students prior to
commencement
● Booking of venues and staffing appropriately for classes and events
● Schedule & Run Auditions with Director
● Coordinate the day-to-day operation of the MA in Theatre Practice across GSA and
UCD.
● Developing and maintaining good communication with all tutors to facilitate improved
feedback and awareness of course/student issues
Production & Producorial Responsibilities
● Act as Producer for the annual MA performances presented each June.
● Liaise with the selected external theatre partner and manage institutional relationships.
● Develop and manage production schedules, budgets, and contracts.
● Oversee all aspects of production including staffing, rehearsal planning, technical
delivery, marketing liaison, and logistics.
● Ensure productions are delivered on time, within budget, and to a professional standard.
● Manage risk assessments, health and safety compliance, and insurance requirements.
● Coordinate technical teams, freelance artists, and production staff as required.
● Liaise with the Marketing Department to produce relevant print materials
Student Liaison & Care:
● Developing and maintaining good communication with students to facilitate improved
feedback and awareness of course/student issues
● Management of assessment and feedback collation of students
● Acting as pastoral care contact for students
Administrative & Academic Duties
● Manage production budgets
● Manage & coordinate student evaluations
● Assess student work, write assessment feedback and coordinate assessment panels
● Maintain clear and professional communication across GSA, UCD, external partners,
and students.
● Support promotional and outreach activities related to the programme and
performances.
● Represent the programme in meetings and external engagements as required.
● Attend Academic Board meetings for accredited programmes as required
● Arrange, chair, and supply minutes on 1 Staff meeting per term

Person Specification
Essential Criteria
● Educated to Masters level in a relevant discipline.
● Experience of teaching practice at postgraduate level.
● Relevant industry experience
● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
● Resourcefulness
● Previous experience in an educational setting
● Computer literacy and knowledge of Microsoft Office packages
● Significant experience in theatre production and/or arts management.
● Proven experience managing live performance projects.
● Strong organisational and project management skills.
● Experience managing budgets
● Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
● Demonstrable experience and interest in a wide variety of contemporary theatre
practitioners
Desirable Criteria
● Familiarity with collaborative or joint-institution programmes.
● Experience working with external venues and partners
● Experience in creating and designing inclusive curriculum

Salary and Hours:
The salary for this post is €37,500 per annum pro rata. This post is 16 hours per week.
There is an additional fee of €3,600 for delivering the final production in the final
semester. This would require additional hours for the duration of May & June.
The role requires flexibility, particularly in the lead-up to and during the annual MA performances
in June, when evening and weekend work may be required. Time off in lieu may be offered in
line with institutional policies. Timetables teaching classes are paid extra at an hourly rate.
