We are delighted to announce a wonderful line-up of highly skilled theatre professionals to lead this year’s Performance Theatre Company ensemble. We are also delighted to open up applications to those who have completed one academic year of training at The Gaiety School of Acting as well as those who have already completed Advanced Performance Year at the school. The Performance Theatre Company provides a practical educational experience in the production of theatre in an ensemble company format and is available to students in both Dublin and Cork. Last year, The Performance Theatre Company in Dublin underwent an exciting overhaul with three established theatre directors – Dan Colley (Collapsing Horse), Louise Lowe (ANU Prodcutions) and Stewart Roche (PurpleHeart Theatre Company – each with contrasting backgrounds, guiding the ensemble through each term. This year, We are delighted to announce Louise Lowe (ANU Productions) will return alongside Raymond Keane (Barabbas) and actor/director/ writer Ronan Dempsey to guide this year’s PTC ensemble through each term. The wealth of knowledge and experience of these theatre professionals offers participants an opportunity to experience something truly extra-ordinary. Tutors: Term 1: Raymond Keane – Performance Theatre CompanyRaymond is a founding member and Artistic Director of multi award winning BarabbasTheatre Company. Raymond’s work as actor, writer and director has appeared in almost every Irish Theatre as well major festivals at home and abroad from Dublin, Cork, Galway, Belfast to London, Edinburgh, Wales, France, Denmark, Africa (Zimbabwe and Zambia), New Zealand and U.S.A. (New York, Washington, Kansas, Chicago, New Hampshire, Colorado and Connecticut).Currently Raymond collaborates with Sarah Jane Scaife (Company SJ) producing the works of Samuel Beckett. Recent presentations include Dublin Fringe Festival 2013,“Happy Days’ Beckett Festival Enniskillen, “River to River” Festival New York and Tokyo Japan. It will appear at The Barbican Beckett Festival in June 2015. He lectures in Theatre of Clown on a Masters in Theatre Making at National University Ireland Maynooth, The Gaiety School of Acting Dublin and at The Lir Academy of Dramatic Arts Dublin. He is External Examiner at Conservatory of Music and Drama – Dublin Institute of Technology. Louise Lowe – Term 2: Performance Theatre CompanyLouise Lowe is the Artistic Director of Anu Productions. Her work includes: Angel Meadow (HOME / Manchester) Thirteen (Winner Irish Times Theatre Awards), Living the Lockout: Dublin Tenement Experience (14 Henrietta Street), The Boys of Foley Street (Dublin Theatre Festival, Dublin City Council Public Art Commission, Winner Best Theatrical Production of the Year Award ERICS, Nominated for two Irish Times Irish Theatre Awards including Best Director Award), Laundry (Dublin Theatre Festival 2011, Winner of Best Production Award, Irish Times Irish Theatre Awards, Nominated for Best Director Award Irish Times Theatre Awards), World’s End Lane (Dublin Theatre Festival 2011, Dublin Fringe 2010, Winner Best Off-site Production Award, Nominated Best Production Award, Irish Times Theatre Awards), Fingal Ronan (Robert Wilson Watermill Center New York), Memory Deleted (Winner Best Production Award), Basin (Dublin Fringe Festival 2009, Winner Best Supporting Actress Award Irish Times Theatre Awards), Down The Valley (winner Best Production Award). Lousie trained at the Samuel Beckett Centre, Trinity College Dublin and hold an M.A. (Directing) from Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, University of London. Ronan Dempsey – Term 3: Performance Theatre CompanyRonan Dempsey studied theatre and set design at the acclaimed Ecole Jacques Lecoq in Paris and previously trained as an actor at The Gaiety School of Acting in Dublin. He was privileged to be trained in Commedia Dell’Arte by Jos Houben, a tutor at Ecole Jacques Lecoq and previously a member of Theatre de Complicite. Ronan is a director, actor and writer based in Dublin. In Cork, Tony McCleane-Fay (Artistic Director at The Granary Theatre) will return to guide the ensemble on Thursday evenings. Tony McCleane FayArtistic Director of GSA, CorkTony McCleane Fay is the Artistic Director at the Granary Theatre will be heading up the GSA operation at Cork from September 2012. HE has been with the Granary Theatre since 2003. He has an MA in Drama & Theatre Studies, Theatre and Performance from UCC and is a Board Member of National Association of Youth Drama. |
