RTE drama Rebellion is the first big splash from the national broadcaster’s programme to mark the centenary of the
1916 Rebellion. With over 600,000 viewers tuning in every Sunday night since the period drama began on the 3rd of January, it was with great pride that we noted a myriad of Gaiety School graduates among the cast.
Taking two of the prominent female leads are Sarah Greene (class of 2006) and Charlie Murphy (class of 2008), who appear alongside Paul Reid (class of 2004) assuming the role of Irish soldier. Marcus Lamb, also a graduate of the class of 2004, plays the part of Rising leader Padraig Pearse while other appearances have been made throughout the series by graduates such as Ian Toner, Jack Hickey and Lynn Rafferty.
With the drama focusing on the personal lives of those taking part in and caught up in the Rebellion, alongside the actual fighting, we’ll be glued to the screen for the next few weeks to see how the various relationship dilemmas and life tribulations pan out.
Rebellion is on Sunday evenings on RTE One at 9.30pm.
