Short Film Casting

Short film adaptation of a story from James Joyce’s Dubliners.
Our project will be filmed in Dublin Liberties and the surrounding area. We are currently searching for actors based in the area or willing to travel. We will be shooting on December 27th, 28th, 29th, and 30th.

The film follows two high school boys who skip class in search of freedom, only to encounter a man who reveals to them the unsettling realities of adulthood. We are looking to cast for these 4 roles:

Derek “Moonshine” Hart [LEAD]:
Male, 18
A rebellious teenage punk. Thinks he’s grown, smart, and that he understands the world
and curses it. Deeply insecure and feels like a poser. Often yearns for the simpler days
when he knew less, when he and Francis would play cowboys.

Francis “Black Damien” Moran [LEAD]:
Male, 18
A frustrated young wannabe-punk. Has a difficult time expressing himself, thinks violence
means rebellion, and that that is punk rock. Feels like his parents’ least favourite child.
Often acts and speaks without thinking first.

Old Man:
Male, 50/60s
A strange character converses with Derek and Francis, however unwillingly. Deeply
pessimistic that the troubles will ever end, he has seen far too much tragedy in his
community.

Shopkeeper:
Any Gender, Late 20s/Early 30s
Owns a shop in the Liberties and is a hard-working member of the community. Takes the
brunt of Francis and Derek’s shenanigans.
