p>The Gaiety School of Acting – The National Theatre School of Ireland at The Granary Theatre are delighted to welcome Pat Kiernan to its staff this term. Pat will teach Page to Stage and Advanced Page to Stage at The Granary Theatre,on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings for 10 weeks, starting from 16th April.

Pat is the Artistic Director and founder of Corcadorca Theatre Company since 1991 and has directed over 30 productions, which have been performed in every theatre in Cork City as well as in non-theatre venues such as Sir Henry’s, Cork City Goal, Fitzgerald’s Park, Fota Gardens and Atkins Garden Centre. He has been nominated 3 times for the Irish Times Theatre Awards in categories such as Best Lighting, Best Production and Best Director for the 2005 production of ‘The Merchant of Venice’.

Page to Stage offers students the chance to look at drama through text, bringing scenes to performance level and rehearsing with a scene partner. Participants will also receive training in how to approach text from a performance perspective while experiencing and evaluating the actor-director relationship.

Advanced Page to Stage is designed to then challenge participants further by looking at more demanding texts and developing the skills they learned in Page to Stage to a higher level. Students have the opportunity to work in larger groups, which reflects the real world of professional performance. Through this course, pupils will gain an invaluable insight into the challenges a professional actor faces in rehearsal.

Tony McCleane-Fay, Artistic Director of The Gaiety School of Acting at The Granary Theatre states ‘I am delighted to have Pat on the staff here at The Gaiety School of Acting in Cork. His knowledge and experience in theatre make him the obvious choice for our Page to Stage courses and adds to the wealth of highly qualified tutors here at The Granary Theatre.’

Patrick Sutton, Director of The Gaiety School of Acting said of Pat Kiernan’s new position ‘The Gaiety School of Acting is extremely proud of the excellent calibre of tutors it has. Pat is a highly accomplished Director and Producer and will no doubt help develop the vibrant and exciting community that is The Gaiety School of Acting at The Granary Theatre’.
