The Advanced Performance course is aimed at acting students who are committed to further enhancing their skills as a performer. The course maintains a strong emphasis on performance and the presentation of work while focusing on the individual students’ strengths and weaknesses.
Term 1: October 2019 – December 2019
Term 1 will focus on the language of theatre – verbal, physical and emotional. You will work on physical characterisation, preparing non theatrical text, theatre research into different genres and styles and spatial awareness. The term culminates in a showcase of scenes before other Advanced Performance classes. Each class will receive a workshop in a specific element of performance; eg Stage Combat, Acting for Camera, Voice.
Term 2: January 2020 – March 2020
Term 2 will continue on your work in the previous term – the language of theatre in a modern context. This term you will focus on modern and contemporary plays and you will work on a duologue through to showcase. The term culminates in a showcase of scenes performed for the public. In term two all Advanced Performance groups will attend a theatre performance on a class night. The following class will be spent in discussion regarding the performance. Each class will receive a workshop in a specific element of performance; eg Stage Combat, Acting for Camera, Voice.
Term 3: Term 3: April 2020 – June 2020
Term 3 will focus on ways of playing for particular playwrights and plays. The main emphasis of Term 3 is on the preparation of work for showcase. In this term you will work towards a fully realised theatre performance – be this a scene showcase or full play. This showcase will be performed for the public.
Entry to the course is by application, interview and audition. Everyone who applies is called for audition and interview. Acceptance on to the course is based on the quality of the applicant’s audition and that they can show evidence of previous training and or experience. Students who have completed the Performance Course or those who can demonstrate equivalent training or experience may apply.
Days: Tuesday and Thursday
Times: 7.00pm – 9.00pm
Dates: 3 Ten week terms running from start of October until June
Cost: € 1860.00

Application Deadline is 1st July 2019
– A reading list will be provided at the start of term which although not compulsory is recommended reading. Throughout the year your tutor may request that you read certain extracts of these books. These books are available for loan from our library and extracts can be photocopied within the constraints of copyright law.
– Your theatre visit will happen during class time and is a compulsory event. The cost of your ticket is included in your fees.
